John S. Bradfield Elementary School
Bradfield Elementary has been a cornerstone of the Highland Park community since 1926, with a proud tradition of academic excellence and community involvement. Bradfield is the second-oldest elementary school within HPISD, and was named after Dr. John Sherman Bradfield, a prominent local leader and School Board President.
For 100 years, Bradfield has grown alongside generations of families committed to nurturing community and education. Our school is rich with century-old traditions like the Bradfield Parent Teacher Association (PTA), and a parent-led volunteer cafeteria.
PTA's mission has been to serve our school by fostering a school environment and a community ripe for learning and for building friendships. We are honored to support our students, teachers, and staff through volunteering, fundraising, and programs that enrich the educational experience for all.
Welcome from the President
I am bursting with excitement to serve our wonderful school this year! Elementary school is a treasured time in the lives of children and parents. These are the days our children will remember with nostalgia, biking the neighborhood with friends, hugs from teachers, school carnivals, Broncos jerseys and snacks after YMCA games. And these are the days we want to hold onto as parents, walking hand in hand with our children into classrooms, cafeteria duty and volunteering at school, cheering on tug-o-war and building community with our neighbors.
I attended HPISD schools as a kindergartener at Armstrong through my senior year at HPHS. Some of my very best friends and memories are from my elementary school days, and I hope this will be true for all our little Broncos! These are special and formative years, and it’s a great honor to walk alongside Bradfield families.
We have a VERY exciting year upon us as we celebrate Bradfield’s 100th year of school! We are learning more about John S. Bradfield Elementary, celebrating the last century of John S. Bradfield Elementary, and planning for the next 100 years of Bradfield!
Our school and neighborhood has a legacy of community and tradition that runs deep and true. In the fall of 1926 Bradfield was the second elementary school founded within HPISD, just 13 years after the Town of Highland Park itself was incorporated. Four years later, in 1931, Highland Park Village was constructed, becoming another cornerstone gathering place in our neighborhood. Our streets and homes are filled with history and generations of Bradfield alums and their families. We even have third generation Broncos walking our halls!
I’m proud for us to carry on (and build upon!) the traditions our first Bradfield families envisioned 100 years ago. We are so lucky to be a school focused on building character and community among our children and families, and aimed at fostering growth and a love of fundamental learning.
Here’s to a CENTURY of Bradfield!
